Intentionally Building
and
Passionately Pursuing

Our Mission

Developing fully-devoted followers of Christ by intentionally building those who know Christ and passionately pursuing those without Christ.

intentionally building

We want to help those who already know Christ to grow more deeply in their faith. We do this through our Sunday morning sermons and worship, our Sunday School classes,  Life Groups,  D-Groups, and our Children’s and Student Ministries. WEFC provides ample opportunities for you to study Scripture and grow in your faith. Learn more about our beliefs below.

passionately pursuing

We believe in the importance of sharing the gospel of Jesus with those without Christ. We want to help equip our church to share Jesus where they live, work and play. WEFC's unique calling is to plant churches in Sedgwick County. We believe neighborhood churches with diverse missions, members and leaders can reach more people for Christ.

THE 7 C'S

Several years ago, our elders looked through Scripture to find the marks of a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ and came up with what has become known as the “7 C’s.” These help to shape the way we think about disciple making and living out our mission as a church to "develop fully devoted followers of Christ by intentionally building those who know Jesus Christ and passionately pursuing those without Jesus Christ.” Our desire is that all people take steps toward Jesus on a daily basis in these areas.

1. Communion with God
A passion for God that draws me to Him and motivates me to live for Him.

2. Competent in the Word
Informed and transformed by the Word of God.

3. Consistent in My Walk
Consistently living out my faith in every area of my life (consistent obedience).

4. Connected to the Body
Some deep transparent relationships, plus a genuine commitment to the body of Christ.

5. Commissioned for Ministry
Regularly using talents and spiritual gifts in the power of the Spirit to serve the body of Christ.

6. Committed to the Lost
A lifestyle that makes both personal and corporate evangelism a high priority.

7. Compassion for Those in Need
Actively caring for anyone who is in need.

Our Unique Calling

Church Planting in Wichita

Why Church Planting in Wichita?

Our unique calling as a church is to “multiply churches that multiply churches to reach our county (greater Wichita) for Christ.” God has given us the call to share the gospel with every person in Wichita. Many churches in Wichita are doing great things, and we desire to partner with them. However, even if no one else was sharing the gospel, we know Jesus has given us this call for Wichita.

Some wonder what the real need for the gospel is in Wichita and ask, “Aren’t there enough churches in Wichita already?” Census and survey numbers state that the greater Wichita population has approximately 500,000 people. Of those, 53% claim no religious affiliation. If you look at the people who work and live close to you and with whom you have a relationship, you’ll find many don’t have a personal relationship with Christ.

New churches can uniquely reach people far from God, and they most often reach people closest in proximity and demographic, so there is a definite need for new churches. Our desire is to plant churches that are living on mission together, and planting the gospel in neighborhoods and demographics central to the church plant’s mission.

Many different areas and cultures need to be reached in Wichita area (Sedgwick County). From small town to urban to suburban, church planting can cover all of these. God needs to move in ways we don’t expect for all people in Wichita to hear and have a chance to respond to the gospel.
